Глава сороковая. Часть вторая.
Сразу после того, как Сергей переоделся в спецовку и надел свою каску, они вышли в цех.
Подойдя к паре – роботу и тестовому стенду, электрик кивнул и сказал:
- Да, помню, в мою смену начинали монтаж. Вот тут, под фальшполом (raised floor - false floor, access floor, elevated floor, platform floor - a raised flooring system allowing access to cables and utilities), вся коммуникация идёт и силовые (power - electrical, high-voltage, heavy-duty, main - relating to electrical power supply) провода и слаботочные. – Он указал на участок пола рядом с площадкой, на которой располагались робот и стенд.
Сергей кивнул.
Электрик снял с плеча сумку и размотал (unrolled - unwound, unfurled, uncoiled, spread out - to unwind something rolled up) бухту (coil - roll, spool, reel, loop - a length of something wound in a joined sequence of rings) провода между основанием робота и стендом.
Осталось отсоединить (disconnect - detach, uncouple, unplug, separate - to break the connection between devices) кабель, связывающий робота и стенд.
Но, Сергей не учёл (considered - took into account, factored in, remembered, included - to take something into consideration), что у него нету официального доступа, чтобы отсоединять кабель от тестового стенда: «Пожалуй, с этим стоит обратиться хотя бы к Виталию...»
Он набрал номер Виталия:
«Привет! Снова тебя беспокою (bothering - disturbing, troubling, annoying, interrupting - to cause inconvenience or annoyance). Пришла в голову мысль – прозвонить кабель. Вдруг там что-то совершенно примитивное (primitive - simple, basic, elementary, crude - very basic or unsophisticated), вроде немного повреждённого (damaged - impaired, broken, faulty, defective - harmed or not functioning properly) проводника? Так вот, мне нужно у кого-нибудь спросить, отсоединить кабель от стенда, чтобы прозвонить его. А ты вроде говорил, что имеешь такие полномочия, так как прошел подготовку у поставщика».
Через некоторое время появился Виталий.
- Привет! – Виталий протянул руку Сергею, и они обменялись рукопожатиями. Потом, так же, пожали друг-другу руки с электриком.
- Да, видишь какая штука, получается так, что каждый агрегат (unit - device, apparatus, machine, component - a piece of equipment with specific function) отправляет правильные команды, но принимаются они с ошибками. Я и подумал, вдруг проблема в кабеле, самая тупая из возможных. – Рассказал свою мысль Сергей.
- Ага, конечно, давай проверим. А Петра зачем пригласили? – Спросил Виталий, указывая на электрика.
- Ну, у меня нету с собой тестера и куска провода тоже нету, а у Петра Валентиновича это главные инструменты для работы. – Ответил Сергей.
- Ну, верно, логично (logical - reasonable, sensible, rational, coherent - following clear reasoning), — подумав, подтвердил доводы (arguments - reasons, points, considerations, explanations - statements put forward to persuade) Сергея Виталий.

- Да, давайте! Я буду у робота кабель отсоединять, а ты, Виталий, у стенда. Прозвоним (test - check, verify, ring out, continuity test - to test electrical connections), да будем дальше думать, если ничего не прояснится. – Подхватил настроение электрика Сергей.
Электрик стоял между роботом и стендом, наблюдая, как молодёжь (youth - teenagers, youngsters, adolescents, juveniles - young people collectively) работает. Теперь, когда кабель был отсоединён (disconnected - detached, unplugged, separated, disengaged - removed from a connection or attachment), а разъёмы (connectors - plugs, jacks, terminals, couplings - devices used to join electrical circuits together) были осмотрены на предмет коррозии (corrosion - rust, oxidation, deterioration, erosion - the gradual destruction of materials by chemical reactions) (а то, вдруг, и там тоже есть причины для потери контакта) настало время проверить проводимость (conductivity - transmission, conduction, transfer, permeability - the ability of a material to allow the passage of electricity or heat).
Виталий взял у электрика тестер, провод, — Серёга, лови конец, и давай начнём проверять.
Крикнул (shouted - yelled, called, exclaimed, hollered - spoke loudly or forcefully) Виталий и бросил в сторону Сергея свободный конец провода.
- Начинаем с бело-оранжевого и так далее, — скомандовал Виталий.

- Нет! Вот, давай ещё раз! – Ответил Сергей.

Но как же тогда аппараты могли показывать хоть что-то похожее на обмен данными? Они должны были бы показывать отсутствие другого агрегата и даже не пробовать запуститься!

- Ну, что скажешь? – Спросил у Сергея Виталий.

- Пока никаких. Ты же сам видел. Тестер показал, что кабель, фактически, разорван (broken - severed, cut, snapped, split - physically separated into pieces). 1. "Точить лясы" (Tochit' lyasy)

Buridan's donkey is a philosophical paradox about decision-making. It describes a donkey placed exactly between two identical piles of hay.
