Глава шестьдесят первая.

Сергей сидел в комнате на стуле, поджав одну ногу под себя и покачивая (swinging - rocking, dangling, swaying, moving back and forth - to move gently and repeatedly from side to side or back and forth) тапочком на кончике большого пальца ноги. От нечего делать он листал новости и ленту в социальной сети. Иногда, поднимая голову, вслушивался (listened intently - listened carefully, paid close attention, strained to hear, tuned in - to listen very carefully) в шум воды в ванной.

Звонок в домофон — прибыл курьер из кафе.
— Да, поднимайтесь, — сказал Сергей в трубку домофона, нажав на кнопку наружного замка, свободной рукой поворачивая ручку замка на двери.

Курьером оказался не молодой, а даже скорее пожилой мужчина. Он был похож на военного пенсионера, который просто подрабатывает иногда, — недешёвый костюм и строгие полуботинки. Его образ не вязался (fit - matched, corresponded, went together, harmonized - to be in agreement or harmony with something) с типичным (typical - standard, common, usual, stereotypical - having the distinctive qualities of a particular type) представлением о курьерах — молодым парнем в кроссовках, джинсахили спортивных брюках и в спортивной куртке.

Без долгих разговоров, лишь обменявшись с курьером дежурными приветствиями, Сергей получил свой заказ и закрыл дверь. Мгновением позже щёлкнул замок двери ванной комнаты. В воздухе поплыли (floated - drifted, wafted, spread, filled the air - to move gently through the air) невидимые облака, полные горячей влаги, (moisture - dampness, humidity, wetness, vapor - small drops of water or other liquid in the air or on a surface) запахов геля и шампуня.

— А вот и заказ! — встретил Сергей Машу, выходящую из ванной, показывая ей пакет с контейнерами из кафе.
— А вот и я! — ответила в унисон (in unison - simultaneously, together, in chorus, as one - speaking or acting at the same time) Маша.

На голове у неё была чалма (turban - head wrap, headdress, head covering - a long cloth wrapped around the head) из полотенца. Лицо после душа раскраснелось, на лбу выступила мелкая испарина. Лицо, расслабленное, без офисного образа, создаваемого косметикой, стало почти детским.

Сергей отставил немного в сторону руку с пакетом и наклонился, чтобы поцеловать Машу в щёку, но она сама распахнула руки и обняла его, и ему ничего не оставалось, как поцеловать её в лоб.

— Пойдём скорее есть, я уже умираю от голода! — воскликнула Маша.
— Ага, сейчас, я свежий чай заварю, (brew - steep, infuse, make, prepare - to make a hot drink by infusing leaves or grains in hot water) — ответил Сергей.

Когда пустые контейнеры были убраны, а чай допит, в воздухе снова повисла неловкая пауза.
— Я, пожалуй, тоже пойду освежусь, (freshen up - wash up, get refreshed, tidy up, wash face and hands - to wash oneself to feel clean and refreshed) — сказал Сергей, поймав Машин задумчивый (thoughtful - pensive, reflective, contemplative, introspective - engaged in or involving deep thought) взгляд. — Если хочешь, в коридоре есть розетка и зеркало, можешь там посушить волосы.
— Отличная идея! — подхватила Маша, вставая с табурета.

Через минуту в коридоре зажужжал (buzzed - whirred, hummed, droned, started with a buzz - began to make a continuous low humming sound) фен.

В ванную со свежей, в несколько раз сложенной простынёй (sheet - bedsheet, bed linen, bedcover - a large rectangular piece of cloth used on a bed) в руках зашёл Сергей.

«Он очень предусмотрительный. (considerate / thoughtful - forward-thinking, careful, prudent, prepared - thinking about and preparing for the future) С ним так легко, не нужно никого играть, ничему соответствовать… А я подсознательно (subconsciously - unconsciously, instinctively, automatically, involuntarily - from the part of the mind that one is not fully aware of) жду какого-то подвоха», — думала Мария перед зеркалом, пока горячий воздух из огненно-красного жерла (fiery-red maw - opening, mouth, nozzle, vent - the opening or front part of a device, here a hairdryer) фена сушил и распушал (fluffed up - made fluffy, volumized, teased, puffed up - to make hair soft and full of volume) волосы.

Стало жарко от потока тёплого воздуха, и Мария немного распустила (loosened - undid, untied, slackened, unfastened - to make something less tight) пояс (belt - sash, girdle, waistband, cord - a strip of material worn around the waist to secure clothing) халата и приоткрыла грудь, чтобы остыть.

Дверь ванной распахнулась, (swung open - opened wide, flung open, burst open, flew open - opened suddenly and widely) и, окружённый (surrounded - enveloped, shrouded, wrapped, encircled - to be all around someone or something) паром, вышел Сергей. На растрёпанных (disheveled - messy, tousled, unkempt, ruffled - untidy and disordered, especially hair) мокрых волосах была странная конструкция, свёрнутая (rolled - twisted, folded, coiled, fashioned - formed into a cylindrical or spiral shape) из бумажного полотенца, формой напоминавшая лавровый (laurel - bay leaf tree, Laurus nobilis - relating to the laurel tree, used in wreaths as a symbol of victory) венок у мраморных (marble - made of marble, alabaster, stone - made of a type of hard, usually white stone) статуй. Простыня была накинута как римская тога, его осанка была гордой, (proud - dignified, stately, majestic, regal - having a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction in one's achievements) а взгляд — высокомерным. (arrogant - haughty, conceited, supercilious, disdainful - having an exaggerated sense of one's own importance)

Мария с немым (silent - soundless, wordless, noiseless, voiceless - without making any sound) смехом смотрела на Сергея.
— Что? — спросил он, видя её улыбку, и сам невольно покосился на свисающий (hanging - dangling, drooping, trailing - extending downward from a point of support) угол ткани.
— Ничего, — кашлянула Мария, пытаясь взять себя в руки. — Просто… Аве, Цезарь!

Сквозь простыню проступали пятна не впитавшейся (absorbed - soaked up, taken in, blotted, mopped up - taken in or soaked up a liquid) полотенцем воды. Один угол простыни всё ниже (lower - further down, descending, sinking, dropping - moving to a position that is less high) и ниже опускался спереди. И именно на этот конец Сергей наступил, выходя из ванной навстречу Марии.

Ткань натянулась, (tightened - became taut, stretched, tensed, pulled - became stretched or pulled tight) и складка, с помощью которой тога держала форму, стала высвобождать (release - free, let out, loosen, unleash - to allow something to move or flow freely) весь край простыни.
— Опа! — воскликнул Сергей, подхватывая (catching - grabbing, seizing, snatching, holding - to take hold of something suddenly) простыню, пока та не сползла (slid off - slipped off, fell down, descended, came off - to move smoothly off a surface) совсем. — Не такое простое дело — носить тогу, это вам не контроллеры (controllers - control units, circuit boards, devices, hardware - electronic devices for controlling other devices) прошивать! (flash - program, update firmware, hack, modify - to install new software on an electronic device's memory)
Мария смеялась в голос и одновременно помогала Сергею поправить тогу.
— Первому гражданину и патриоту (patriot - loyalist, nationalist, flag-waver, compatriot - a person who vigorously supports their country) Рима нужна помощь народа! — комментировала она.

Пока она помогала поправить тогу, её незатянутый пояс развязался, а халат распахнулся, открыв ложбину (cleavage - hollow, valley, depression, dip - the narrow space between a woman's breasts) между грудями, живот, бёдра (hips - pelvic area, haunches, thighs - the area around the pelvis and the upper part of the leg) и лобок (pubic area - mons pubis, pubic mound, groin - the front part of the body where the pubic bones are located) с коротко подстриженными (trimmed - cut short, clipped, neatened, groomed - cut slightly to make neat) волосами.

Сергей притянул Машу к себе, обнял и поцеловал. И прошептал ей на ухо: «Но на самом деле я тиран!» (tyrant - despot, autocrat, dictator, oppressor - a cruel and oppressive ruler)
